Call for Proposals

The National Association of Pretrial Services Agencies (NAPSA) is a professional organization dedicated to enhancing the field of pretrial services at the county, state, and federal levels. Each year, NAPSA holds a conference that brings together intake analysts, case managers, program directors, attorneys, judges, and researchers to discuss ideas and issues pertaining to the assessment and supervision of persons awaiting trial. Approximately 550 members attend the forum from across the country, including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

The 2009 NAPSA conference will take place in beautiful Charlotte, North Carolina from September 13th through the 16th. The theme of the event is "Game Plan for Change". The premise is that pretrial agencies should begin addressing the issues that cause individuals to get involved in the criminal justice system prior to their sentencing. Potential topic areas include:

All proposals should reflect the conference theme. Preference will be given to presenters that provide subject matter that is rooted in evidence based practices, innovative in nature, and pragmatic to implement. Attendees should feel that they have acquired information necessary for implementing new practices in their jurisdictions from the presentation.

Workshops can be comprised of individual presenters or panels, with each session lasting 90 minutes. Audience participation is encouraged.
