Job Readiness Classes

U.S. Probation Office

Conducts Job Readiness Classes at the U.S. Probation Offices in Hickory, generally the first Monday of each month; in Asheville, generally the first Thursday of each month; and in Statesville, Bryson City, and Charlotte as needed.

Please see your supervising officer for a referral to the class.
 


Job Connections at Goodwill of the Southern Piedmont

Offers classes in Interviewing Skills; Resume Writing; Keyboarding and more. Orientation to the program is held on Thursdays from 2:00-4:30 p.m. Most classes are held on a weekly basis with no fees required. Staff will assist with job searches. You must call to schedule your space in the class.
 
They also offer more in depth programs in Hospitality/Tourism (6 weeks); Construction (5 weeks) and Banking/Customer Service (9 weeks). Financial Assistance is available for these programs. You must call to schedule your space in the class.

Center for Community Transitions

This is a two week, daily program that gives in depth instructions on Interviewing Skills; Resume Writing; and basic Computer Skills. CCT provides participants with an email account; job searches; some transportation assistance for job interviews and more. Classes begin every other Monday. Classes are offered at no fee. You must call to schedule your space in the class.
