Bonding
The Federal Bonding Program provides fidelity bonds to anyone who is not eligible for commercial bonding. Bonding for six months - at no cost to the employer or the employee - can be obtained through this office.

Career Information
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes a large amount of information on employment and wages by occupation, including career information, employment levels and projections, and various types of earnings data. This link leads to an Overview of BLS Statistics by Occupation.

Employer Incentive Programs
The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC), authorized by the Small Business Job Protection Act of 1996 (P.L. 104-188), is a federal tax credit that encourages employers to hire nine targeted groups of job seekers by reducing employers’ federal income tax liability by as much as $2,400 per qualified new worker; $750, if working 120 hours or $1,200, if working 400 hours or more, per qualified summer youth. One of the nine targeted groups is ex-felons who are a member of a low income family.
Many states offer tax incentives and tax credits similar to the Federal Work Opportunity Tax Credit cited above. The National Helping Individuals with criminal records Re-enter through Employment Network (H.I.R.E. Network) provides links to listing to state resources for convicted persons.

General
The Bureau of Prisons regularly conducts mock job fairs. To get to the listing of these job fairs, go to the BOP web site and then do the following:
  1. Click on Public Info on the left side of the page.
  2. Click on the link to Inmate Programs and Services.
  3. Click on the link to Release and Employment Information.
  4. Click on the link to Inmate Placement Program.
  5. In the upper right corner is a drop down with the words navigate to.... Select Mock Job Fairs to go to the listing.

We communicate with prisoners all over the country via the mail, answering questions and providing information for those who are in need of services. We are also dedicated to educating the public about prisons, criminal justice issues, and the root causes of crime. Fortune News, our quarterly journal, is sent free of charge to inmates and contributing members.
In line with the Department of Labor's vision for America's Labor Market Information System, the CareerOneStop portal, operating as a federal-state partnership, is funded by grants to states. This powerful suite of tools includes America's Job Bank (AJB), America's Career InfoNet, and America's Service Locator. Each product offers a unique solution to the overwhelming demands of today's labor market from the perspective of the job seeker, the employer, and the public workforce community. CareerOneStop, along with the National Toll-Free Helpline (1-877-US-2JOBS) and the local One-Stop Career Centers in each state, combine to provide a wide range of workforce assistance and resources.
Dress for Success is a not-for-profit organization that helps low-income women make tailored transitions into the workforce. Each Dress for Success client receives one suit when she has a job interview and a second suit when she gets the job. The Dress for Success Professional Women's Group program then provides ongoing support to help the client build a successful career.
Career Gear is a nonprofit organization that fills the gap between job-training programs and employment by providing men with interview clothing, motivation and follow-up support that helps them get and keep jobs.
The Jobs for Ex-Offenders Toolkit! The Kit, a service of America's Workforce Network, has been developed to provide criminal justice staff and Inmates with information about Department of Labor workforce development programs and services.
The Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration seeks to build up the labor market through the training of the workforce and the placement of workers in jobs through employment services. This website is designed to direct adults, youth, dislocated workers, and workforce development professionals to information on these programs and services.
The National Offender Workforce Development Partnership (NOWDP) is a collaboration developed by staff representing the U.S. Department of Labor, the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, Office of Probation and Pretrial Services; the Federal Bureau of Prisons; the National Institute of Corrections; the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; and the Legal Action Center - National Hire Network. The mission of the partnership is to facilitate a transitional approach to apprenticeships and employment strategies for ex-offenders. The ultimate goal of the partnership is to enhance reentry success through increased opportunities for career-oriented employment of ex-offenders. The partners are working together to: Forecast what occupations are, and will likely remain, in demand by the private sector; Ensure that institution apprenticeship and vocational training programs are consistent with industry-wide accepted standards; Develop measurable criteria for the different levels of skills needed for industry jobs; Identify and address related barriers to offender employment; Provide current industry related programs and training; and Share information efficiently among all involved.
Established in 1974, the National Low Income Housing Coalition is dedicated solely to ending America’s affordable housing crisis. NLIHC is committed to educating, organizing, and advocating to ensure safe, decent, affordable housing within healthy neighborhoods for everyone. NLIHC provides up-to-date information, formulates policy and educates the public on housing needs and strategies for solutions.
O*NET OnLine is an application that was created for the general public-to provide broad access to the O*NET database of occupational information. The O*NET database includes information on skills, abilities, knowledges, work activities, and interests associated with occupations. This information can be used to facilitate career exploration, vocational counseling, and a variety of human resources functions, such as developing job orders and position descriptions and aligning training with current workplace needs. Information in O*NET is available for over 950 occupations. Each occupational title and code is based on the most current version (2000) of the Standard Occupational Classification system. O*NET is a unique, powerful source for continually updated occupational information and labor market research. By using a contemporary, interactive skills-based database and a common language to describe worker skills and attributes, O*NET transforms mountains of data into precise, focused occupational intelligence that anyone can understand easily and efficiently.
Adult rehabilitation centers are among the most widely known of all Salvation Army services and comprise the largest resident substance abuse rehabilitation program in the United States. Individuals with identifiable and treatable needs go to these centers for help when they no longer are able to cope with their problems. There they receive adequate housing, nourishing meals, and necessary medical care, and they engage in work therapy, spiritual guidance, and skilled counseling in clean and wholesome surroundings. Residents may be referred or be remanded by the courts. Free temporary shelter is available to homeless men and women in severe financial need. Low-cost housing also is available to men and women living on pensions or social security. Locations are listed by region. Regions are selected on the left side of the page.
The Ticket to Work and Self-Sufficiency Program is the centerpiece of the Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act of 1999. It is a nationwide initiative designed to bring major positive change to the lives of individuals with disabilities. This comprehensive national initiative is also designed to assist people with the training and support they need to go to work by increasing their choices. SSA beneficiaries with disabilities can find employment, vocational rehabilitation (VR) and other support services from public and private providers.

Government
An online screening tool to help determine, anonymously, to what benefits a person may be entitled. It is free, easy-to-use, and completely confidential. The user answers a series of questions, and then GovBenefits.gov returns a list of government benefit programs you may be eligible to receive along with information about how you can apply.

Vocational Rehabilitation
This section of the Social Security Administration's website contains information about SSA`s vocational rehabilitation programs, a listing of providers under contract to SSA and contracting and grants opportunities at SSA.

Vital Records
Most programs, government or private, require birth certificates and/or other vital documents. This web page, which is part of the Center for Disease Control, provides the addresses for the state agencies from which these documents can be obtained.
